Trauma, Lack Of Opportunities Push South Sudanese Refugees Into Drugs and Gambling In Refugee Camps In Uganda

 


South Sudanese Refugees in Uganda refugees camps are are saying lack of opportunities has forced them to engage in negative activities. 

A Ugandan resident Mr. Ronald Milla confirmed this by saying most of the refugees spend their time on gambling and drug abuse because of boredom. 

“People are suffering nothing to eat at all and getting money is also a problem also the school fees and everything here things are very difficult,” Milla told Eye Radio on Tuesday.

He adds: “There is nothing to do except sleeping, playing cards and gambling because there is no work to do.”

Uganda Refugees Camps is the biggest camp in world hosting South Sudanese Refugees following Kenya-Kakuma Refugee Camp.
