Nasir Trial Adjourned as MP Gatwech Lam Puoch Begins Defense ‎

‎The Special Court handling the Nasir incident has adjourned proceedings until Monday, June 15, after the third accused, MP Gatwech Lam Puoch, began presenting his defense. ‎ ‎Gatwech, a member of the National Legislative Assembly representing Nasir County, rejected allegations linking him to activities related to the Nasir incident.  ‎ He told the court that his actions were part of his constitutional duties as an elected representative and were aimed at reducing tensions in Nasir and Ulang counties. ‎ ‎The lawmaker said a press conference cited by prosecutors was intended to encourage dialogue, address rumors, and help prevent conflict rather than incite violence.  ‎ He maintained that he was fulfilling his responsibility to represent and speak on behalf of his constituents. ‎ ‎Gatwech also argued that the Nasir crisis should be viewed within the wider context of challenges facing the implementation of the 2018 peace agreement, citing concerns raised by various political act...

50 Year Old Woman Commits Suicide In Torit Eastern Equatoria State

On the eve of the new year one woman known as Acina Jina Peter decided to end her life by hanging herself in Torit the capital city of Eastern Equatoria.

She hang her self in Mairo Village and the chief Mr. Ohisa Charles spoked to Radiotamazuj and said that the deceased use ropes to hang herself. 

“The government should help in putting some measures to control alcohol consumption. Alcohol should not be taken in the morning hours. It can even be banned because our people are dying,”- Charles Ohisa.

Meanwhile, Major General John Luny, Eastern Equatoria State Deputy Commissioner of Police, confirmed the incident, which he said was a result of excessive consumption of alcohol.

The incident was confirmed by the Deputy Commissioner Of Police, Major Gen. John Luny.

Major General John said that “about the issue of the lady who hanged herself, the reason behind the incident is alcohol, according to the neighbours. All her neighbours say that whenever she drinks alcohol, she always says I will kill myself,”-Major Gen. John. 

Major General John Luny said investigation will be carried out thoroughly and the Mayor of Torit added by saying the body will be taken to the mortuary for further examinations.

Few days ago a similar incident happened and a woman opted to take her life because of family quarrels.
