Ugandan Troops Accused of War Crimes in South Sudan: Civil Society Demands ICC Action

 ‎ UPDF.  A South Sudanese campaign group, the Reclaim Campaign, has submitted a formal request to the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate alleged atrocities committed by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) during their incursion into Upper Nile State in March 2025. ‎ ‎The group alleges that the UPDF carried out indiscriminate bombings, used chemical weapons, and targeted civilians particularly from the Nuer ethnic group while operating inside South Sudanese territory without the consent of the transitional government.  ‎ ‎According to the campaign, these actions could constitute war crimes, crimes against humanity, and acts of aggression under the Rome Statute. ‎ ‎The Reclaim Campaign's petition also claims that the Ugandan government has shown no willingness to hold its military accountable, making a case for the ICC to intervene.  ‎ ‎The group cited statements by Ugandan officials that allegedly dehumanize South Sudanese citizens and promote et...

South Sudan National Police Signed A Bilateral Agreement With Sudan Police Force


The South Sudan National Police (SSNPS) signed a bilateral agreement with Sudan Police Force. In a ceremony held at the South Sudan Ministry of Interior headquarters in the capital Juba today.

The two countries reached joint recommendations in the agreement including Visa on Arrival at the Airports and all points of entries to both citizen of two sisterly countries, opening of the borders ,exchange of security information on the organized and transnational crimes, capacity building,training, cooperation and border management and joint security investigation, strengthen surveillance patrol at the borders , control illegal movement of people at the existing border crossing points, monitoring teams, sharing and transfer of experience, coordination and enhancing the provision of logistical support as much as possible.

In his address, the Inspector General of South Sudan National Police Service Gen Majak Akech noted that the MoU between South Sudan national police and Sudan police force will double up the efforts and cooperation on many issues including security intelligence, information sharing, control of organized crimes at the borders, training to South Sudan National Service in Sudan.

“This is the beginning and good gesture between South Sudan police and Sudan police force,” Akech said.

“For us, we are very delighted and privileged to have you and it will be long lasting relationships that will actually path way for other generations to come.”

In his remarks, the Director General of Sudan Police Force Gen.Adil Mohammed Ahmed noted that the presence of the SSNPS counterparts at this time shows strong commitment to work towards eradicating challenges, including joint police in fighting crime between the two countries.
