SSPDF and Agwelek Forces Capture New Fangak in Jonglei State ‎

‎ SSPDF Soldier  ‎Government troops from the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF), backed by the Agwelek militia, have taken control of New Fangak (Phom) in Fangak County, Jonglei State, following a coordinated military offensive against forces loyal to the Sudan People’s Liberation Army-in-Opposition (SPLA-IO) and the White Army. ‎ ‎Major General Paromi Angui, the SSPDF operations commander and deputy commander of Agwelek forces, confirmed the capture, stating that the operation began on May 12 and resulted in the seizure of both New Fangak town and the Alel area to its south. ‎ ‎According to Gen. Paromi, government forces suffered minimal losses, with one soldier killed and a few others wounded.  ‎ ‎He claimed that the opposition suffered heavier casualties and reported the capture of two SPLA-IO fighters. President Salva Kiir Will Not Attend Attend The Meeting In Addis Ababa

South Sudan National Minister Of Information said that President Kiir will not attend the meeting next week because the meeting does not include president Kiir.  
IGAD invited all the signatories of the revitalized peace agreement in order to discuss challenges affecting the peace agreement.  
Hon. Makuei Lueth said that “the meeting will take place in Addis Ababa on 21 August. The parties have been asked to send three representatives each for a consultative meeting, so the meeting does not include the president.” 
The Information Minister also refused to disclose the names of the officials that will president the government.  
He also added that the president is committed to re-unite the country again and will not jeopardize it.  
Only few months left before the transitional government to be formed but some issues remain unsolved.  
Issues like: forming a unified army, and the exact number of states.

“We Are Back”: SSPDF Recaptures Ulang Amid Fractures in the White Army ‎

‎ ‎After weeks of tension and uncertainty, the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) have reentered Ulang town, regaining control from the White Army  a civilian militia that had recently seized power and chased out government authorities. ‎ ‎Maj. Gen. Michael Majok, the army commander overseeing Division 2 in Malakal, confirmed the news Thursday. “We are back in Ulang, thanks to the unity of our forces, the state government, and the support of civilians on the ground,” he said. ‎ ‎Last month, the White Army mainly composed of armed Nuer youth  took over Ulang County, replacing the county commissioner and pushing back against government troop movements in nearby Nasir.  The move sparked fears of renewed regional conflict and cross-border instability with Ethiopia. ‎ ‎But this week’s retaking of Ulang came with surprisingly little resistance.
