Nineteen '19' year old woman committed suicide in Lakes State, Rumbek East County

  The local police of Lakes State confirmed that a 19 year old woman committed suicide in the County of Rumbek East in the village of Meen-Wal and the police withheld the deceased name for unknown reason.  This is not the first time for the young girls to commit suicide in the State, the first case was reported to the authorities  two days ago after a young girl committed suicide in Wulu County.  While speaking to the Media, Police Spokesperson Maj. Elijah Mabor Makwach said that, the police are conducting thorough investigation on why there is a rampant rise of suicide amongst girls in Lakes State.  “We have recorded several cases of suicide with the most recent being a 19-year-old girl who committed a suicide in Meen-wal village in Rumbek East County and the investigation is still ongoing to identify the cause of the suicide because the cases are rising. SPLM-IO: Lack Of Food And Essential Items May Delay Assembly Of -IO Forces At Cantonment Sites

The Deputy Spokesperson of the SPLA-IO says a lack of food and essential items may delay the assembly of opposition forces at cantonment sites beyond the July 31st deadline.  Colonel Lam Paul Gabriel says the SPLA-IO has been working to meet tomorrow’s deadline but are finding it increasingly difficult without the basic services.  The Joint Transitional Security Committee instructed government and opposition forces to assemble at their barracks and cantonment sites by July 31st. Col Gabriel says the process will be fast-tracked when expected consignments of food are delivered in the coming days.  More to follow shortly....

South Sudan President Salva Kiir To Meet SPLM-IO Leader Dr. Riek Machar In Addis Ababa

South Sudan President Office confirmed that President Salva Kiir will meet SPLM-IO leader Dr. Riek Machar next week in order to push the current peace process.   Ateny Wek Ateny the President's Spokesman said that the two leaders will meet one on one to sort out the critical pending tasks in the peace process.   The Spokesman also said that the meeting will be facilitated by the IGAD “The initiative came from the mediators so that the transitional government is formed in November.”  Dr. Riek Machar SPLM-IO Team is yet to comment nor Intergovernmental Authority on Development on this progress by South Sudan government.   More to come shortly...  

South Sudan Lawyer: If President Kiir Bans South Sudan National Anthem Let Him Ban South Sudan Flag Too

One of the South Sudanese lawyers said that President Salva Kiir should also ban The South Sudanese flag which can be seen everywhere in the country.   The anonymous lawyer also responded to South Sudan Information Minister remarks in which Hon. Makuei said only embassies and schools will the national anthem be allowed.   In his own words the anonymous lawyer said that  “If he [President Kiir] wants to ban the national anthem from being sung in his absence, let him ban all the flags from wherever they are. The Newly appointment Western Lakes State Governor sacked the information Minister Hon. Majak Isaac Ror.   Governor Mahmud Solomon Deer gave no reason for the dismissal of the Information Minister and did not even replace the minister.     Hon. Mahmud Solomon Deer also did some reshuffling in his cabinet by appointing the former Youth and Sports as the new Deputy governor of Western Lakes State.  He also replaced the Youth and Sports Minister by appointing Zachariah Ater as the new Youth and Sports Minister.     More to come shortly.... 

Bank Of South Sudan: Introduces Whistle Blowing Policy For Transparency And Accountability

South Sudan Bank decided to introduce a Whistle Blowing Policy for accountability and transparency in the country.  Dier Tong Ngor Chairman of the bank and also the Governor of the Bank said that the whistle blowing policy will act on ethical behavior and commitment of its staff.     “We think it will bring even more improvement because we will give our employees the right to report malpractices. We are now giving employees protection that they can report issues like that so that they are addressed. So if one of the employees report that a wrong doing is committed by certain staff, then we will apply the rules that we have here. It can even go beyond our rules. If somebody is committing a crime, then you will go beyond the bank. It can go to the court. So that is the impact of our policy. South Sudan Council Of Ministers Asked South Sudanese To Respect President Kiir Oder Which Bans Singing The National Anthem In His Absence.

The public is asked to observe a Presidential order banning the singing of the national anthem in the absence of the President. The council of ministers in its regular sitting on Friday resolved that the anthem is only meant for functions attended by the President “This should be strictly observed because it is not meant for everybody,” government spokesperson Michael Makuei told journalists after the meeting in Juba on Friday.  Makuei said there was a tendency for the national song to be ‘misused’ and sang at functions presided over by ministers, undersecretaries and governors. The cabinet meeting also endorsed a Presidential directive banning the military from engaging in politics. Tonj State: Seventeen (17) Year Old Boy Raped A Nine (9) Year Old Girl

A nine (9) year old girl was raped by a seventeen (17) year old boy in Manyangok-Ngok as Tonj State Police Investigator confirms the incident.   Investigator Deng Mabior said that he was informed of the incident by the police officers from Manyangok police station.   The boy is still under police custody and he is undergoing investigation after the investigation he will be taken to the court.    The alleged boy has accepted the incident but insisted that it was an agreement between the two of them. Bank Of South Sudan: South Sudan Pounds Is Showing Sign Of Economic Recovery

The Bank of South Sudan is reporting signs of economic recovery since the signing of the revitalized peace agreement and launch of various infrastructure projects. Addressing journalists in Juba, bank governor and chairman of Board of Directors, Dier Tong Ngor said an upcoming power project and the launch of the fibre optic network have contributed to the recovery. Dier Tong Ngor says the bank projects Gross Domestic Products or GDP to increase from previous negative digits to 5% by the end of 2019. The Bank of South Sudan concluded a 3-day Board of Directors meeting today in Juba. South Sudanese Pound was officially introduced before secession on 9th Joly 2011 and it is the official currency of South Sudan.  More to follow shortly...

UN and UNCT Members Gives South Sudan Government 650 Million Dollars For 2019 Priorities

South Sudan Humanitarian Coordinator said that South Sudan Government was awarded 650 Million Dollars.  Humanitarian Coordinator Mr. Alain Noudohou reiterate that the money is to help improve security, recover local economies and strengthen governance.   “The cooperation agreement covers on governance, social services, health and education, livelihood and also on women activities”, he adds.   South Sudan National finance minister said that  “Most important thing is peace to be sustainable to help UN agenesis to cover other areas and have freedom of movement because other areas are under guns which we hope to be put in the stores.”   More to follow shortly....

Wau State Legislative Assembly Summoned State Public Service Minister For Questioning

Wau State MPs felt disrespected by the State Minister of public service and have opted to summoned him for questioning.   Wau State MPs said that the State Public Service Minister invited the impeached State Health Minister as a VIP during one of the State occasions.   Viola Umeli Wau State acting speaker said that some protocols were not considered during the celebration. South Sudan Catholic Church Denounces Sexual Gender Base Violence.

South Sudan Catholic Church finally decided to distance themselves with all form of human rights abuse and also the common Gender Based Violence in South Sudan (SGBV) and the Catholic Church said that Gender Based Violence is wrong. South Sudan Catholic Churches said that South Sudan Should accept that Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) exists in South Sudan and it is our duty as South Sudanese to combat it in all aspects of live since it has caused countless crisis in South Sudan.  The Catholic Leaders attended a training that was conducted by the UISG or the Justice and Peace International Union Of Superior General In south Sudan. Eight Students from Yei Day Secondary School has been suspended indefinitely for being drunk and causing chaos in the school.   Bingo Francis the Principal of Yei Day Secondary School said that the students also organize strikes in the school.  “We discovered they were indiscipline students and we decided to suspend them indefinitely. We suspended the eight students indefinitely because of gross misconduct. They could get drunk; want to instigate strike and many other faults. Juba - Nimule: Two People Killed and Two Others Injured In A Road Ambush.

Two people were killed, and two others injured in a road ambush along the Juba-Nimule highway.  The travelers were among seven passengers heading to Juba on independence morning yesterday, when the Toyota Noah they were in, came under attack in Orobe village, Lowa Boma. Pageri county commissioner, Emilio Igga says the attackers sprayed their vehicle with bullets at close range.  Igga says the injured were rushed to Nimule health facilities for treatment and security has been stepped up in the area. The incident comes amid increased reports of attempted robberies along the same route. More to come shortly...

South Sudan President Issued A Public Apology To Civil Servants Over Six Months Salary Delay

South Sudan President publicly apologized to the civil servants over delay to pay the civil servants salary arrears for six months.   Kiir made the speech during South Sudan independence day celebrations in Juba and assured the civil servants that their outstanding salary will be paid in full soon.   President Kiir also said that he understands the living conditions in the country and blame it to the civil war tearing the nation apart.   “I am fully aware that our people are hungry because of the difficult living conditions imposed upon them by insecurity and economic hardships. This is further exacerbated by the failure of my government to pay the salaries of our civil servants on time. ICRC: South Sudan Leads With Highest Number Of Gunshot Patients In Africa

  International Crescent Of Red Cross (ICRC) confirmed that South Sudan is leading in number of gunshot patients in Africa.   Even after the peace agreement International Crescent Of Red Cross (ICRC) facilities across the country admits high number of patients with gunshot wounds on a daily basis.  Florian Seriex who is the spokeperson of ICRC said that “We receive new patients almost every day. So ICRC supports two key hospitals in South Sudan. One is in Juba and the other one in Ganyiel. The injuries don’t necessarily happen in Juba or Ganyiel, but the patients are brought from all the different parts of the country.”  She also said that some of the wounds are as a result of revenged killing, cattle raids and also inter communal conflicts.     “Ninety seven percent of admitted patients over the last six months period suffered gunshot wounds. South Sudan National Members of parliament (MPs) issued a serious threat to impeach the Finance Minister over outstanding salary arrears.   The threat came after MPs refused to listen to the budget of 2019/2020 fiscal year resulting into a total chaos in the parliament. The MPs wanted to know why civil servants have not been paid their six months salary arrears.   Just last Friday the Finance Minister promise to clear the outstanding arrears within two weeks  One of the MPsvsaid that “Honorable minister of finance went to the media and informed the public that he was going to pay two months salaries within two weeks. Flights Resumed At Juba International Airport

South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority said that Juba International Airport resumed operations this morning. Communication equipment failure on Friday forced cancellation of all outgoing and incoming flights yesterday. CA said the piece of equipment that had failed at the Control Tower was the radio that lets Air Traffic Controllers talk to pilots. CA said the equipment has been replaced.   South Sudan Governors of Wau and Tonj State finally admitted that South Sudan conflict can only be solved at a grassroots level.   The remarks from South Sudan Governors came during a conference on reconciliation between Gogrial, Wau and Tonj.   Hon. Mathew Mathiang of Tonj State said that grassroots level talk will resolve issues between the farmers and cattle keepers in the three states of South Sudan.   Angelo Taban the Wau State Governor also said that finding out the source of the inter communal conflicts was the only way to bring peace to communities in South Sudan.     More to follow shortly...

The Students union of greater Rumbek East pleads with South Sudanese to stop segregation, discrimination, revenged killing and cattle raiding in South Sudan.     Rumbek East students said that the main issue causing conflicts in South Sudan are the above mentioned in South Sudan.     Arier Chol from Savannah Secondary School said that killing of foreigners and communal conflicts are some of the reasons to why the country is lagging behind in all areas of development.   Arier Chol is also calling the parents and guardians not to misdirect their children mostly about bad culture and killing.     Most of the students spoke about discrimination and segregation and they are requesting the country to speak against it.     More to follow shortly...  

Heavy Flood Displaced Over 1,000 Families In Bieh State

Bieh State Information Minister said that over 1,000 families have been displaced in Bieh State due to heavy flood.   Information Minister Hon. Peter Nin said that “It rain almost for five hours yesterday and the area is full flooded, consider that the whole greater Wuror is over flooded. What we know so far base on the report yesterday, there one thousand something families were displaced.”  He also said that most of the displaced people have moved to higher grounds and have also occupied schools. “There is displacement because people moved from those places which are over flooded to very dry areas, places like a church and schools, these were the areas people gathered on.”   The State Information Minister is appealing to the government and humanitarian agencies to come and help them since the flood destroyed alot of properties.   “The greater Wuror comprise if six counties, the first one is Pudiet and the second one if Weikol, the third one is Peiri , the fourth one is M

  Wau State Health Minister yesterday was impeached by the State Legislative Assembly over missing Health Ministry money and other related issues.   The State Minister of Health was impeached in absentia after failing to turn up for questioning by the State Assembly for the third time.   Wau State Health Minister Hon. James Patrick evaded the questioning by the assembly forcing the state legislative to pass a vote of no confidence.   Wau State Assembly also gave the State Minister of Health seven (7) days to return back all the State properties plus the missing 500,000 SSP donation by President Salva Kiir.    Corruption is very rampant in South Sudan and it is becoming a disease that is eating government officials in the government.  More to come shortly.... 

Turkana and Toposa Leaders Met Today To Discuss Kenya-South Sudan Boarder Issue

Today Turkana and Toposa leaders had a bilateral consultative meeting on South Sudan -Kenya boarders.  The meeting was chaired by Turkana County Governor H.E Josephat Nanok and Kapoeta State Governor H.E Luis Lobong Lojore.  The consultative meeting was held as a result of the agreement between H.E president Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya and H.E President Salva Kiir of the republic of South Sudan to fast track the implementation of the MOU on boundary delimination and demarcation between Kenya and South Sudan signed on 17th June 2019 in Nairobi. During the deliberations that were held in a cordial and transparent atmosphere ,the leaders recognised the common heritage,good relations and interdependence between the people of Kenya and south Sudan and committed to deepen and strengthen existing friendly bilateral relations. South Sudan Government Given Ten (10) Acres Of Land By Kenyan Government

South Sudan today received a ten (10) acres of land in Naivasha Kenya. The land is to be used a dry port and Logistics when South Sudan Crude oil reaches Lamu Port.   Kenya also plans to hold a trade expo in Juba South Sudan to strengthen their bilateral relationship with South Sudan.   The land issued to South Sudan is similar to the given to Uganda on March this year. Attorney General Issues Arrest Warrant To Former Western Lakes State Governor

The Attorney General issued an arrest warrant to the former Western Lakes State Governor Kerbino Kuel Deng.  The former Western Lakes State Governor had disappeared and gone into hiding as law enforcement officers are encroaching on him. The warrant was issued because of the disappearance of money meant for students and teachers and the money was confiscated by the former Governor.  Here is the details of the arrest warrant “to any police R.C.C whereas John Deng Mamer stands charged with the offence under section 346/223/283 of the penal code act, 2008, you are directed to arrest the said person and bring him/her before the crime officer in charge in the police station.” The State Finance Minister Hon. Fifteen (15) People Killed Including Paramount Chief In Manyangok County (Tonj State)

A paramount Chief and fifteen other people have been killed in Manyangok County in two separate attacks.   Tonj State Information Minister said that “The paramount chief of Padek Section was killed in an attack on a cattle camp called Akucheng.”  The information Minister further confirmed that 11 people were killed in a separate attack and over 3,000 cows taken.   The Information Minister is unable to disclose the identity of the people behind the attack.  So it remains the same case of unknown gunmen.   More to follow shortly...  

South Sudan President Salva Kiir To Visit Kenya Today 1-July-2019

South President Salva Kiir Mayardiit to visit Kenya's Capital city Nairobi today to hold talks with Kenya's Head of State His Excellency Uhuru Mwigai Kenyatta. President Kiir will be accorded with full reception honors upon his arrival. Members of Kiir entourage confirmed that the full state reception will be completed with a 21-gun salute before starting the bilateral talks with Kenya President Uhuru Mwigai Kenyatta. General Gabriel Jok Riak Does Not A Child In The Army.

Family members of General Gabriel Jok Riak have dismissed fake news circulating on the social media and in Ugandan gossip newspapers linking a man dressed up as a Brigadier General to South Sudan’s Chief of Defence. The man in question is “Brown” aka Paulino Akoon Yel Dut. He is the “spokesman” for South Sudan United Front / Army faction of Garang Achiec Bol Agiu. Akoon Yel Dut is from Northern Bahr el Ghazal Region. He studied in Gulu, Uganda according to those who know him and has zero military experience. He is not related to General Gabriel Jok Riak in any way whatsoever according to the family. Two (2) Women Died As A Result Of Heavy Flooding In Torit State

  Officials in Torit State confirmed that two women died as a result of heavy flood in Torit East County.   The Commissioner of Torit East County Hon. Tobby  Majak said that the flood resulted because of heavy rains in Torit State.   Torit East Commissioner also said that the effect of the flood was so devastating as crops were destroyed and people had to move to higher grounds and start farming afresh to avoid another calamity  The Commissioner is advising the people of his county not to give up in farming after the flood.  He believed farming will eradicate poverty in the State.    Hon. SPLM-IO Released Fifteen (15) Prisoners Of War

SPLM-IO Deputy Spokesman confirmed that they have released 15 Prisoners of and have been handed over to South Sudan Red Cross.   The Deputy SPLM-IO said they released the because of the peace agreement  Manawa own words “The 15 persons have been transported from New Fangak to Juba. It is a good move towards the implementation of the peace process.”  Speaker Manawa is also urging the government to do the same by releasing the SPLM-IO prisoners detained in Juba.   Red Cross Communication Officer Aidah Khamis said that “facilitated the release of 15 persons detained in relation to the conflict in South Sudan.” The Red Cross communication officer also said that ”We safely transported the former detainees to Juba on Thursday and they were handed over to the government.”  What do you think of the move by SPLM-IO to release the Prisoners of war???  More to follow shortly.... 

South Sudan Leads With The Highest Number Of Rape Cases

Victoria Nasra the Director General in the Ministry Gender, Child and Social Welfare confirms that South Sudan leads with the highest number of rape cases. The Director General also said that the reasons to why South Sudan leads in rape cases is because of high level of alcohol consumption in the country.    Victoria Nasra also said that due to alcohol consumption the armed forces tend to lose control of themselves.   The rape cases in South Sudan led to families being broken because of the after effects of the rape.  Rape cases also led to children dropping out of school and also high level of divorce in the community.   More to follow shortly.... 

Ex-Lol State Commissioner Arrested For Involving In Illegal Gold Mining

A former commissioner in Lol state and six other people have been arrested for alleged involvement in illegal gold mining activities in his County Alamin Ahmed, the former Commissioner of Kafia Kinyja, was dismissed from office last week and immediately apprehended along with his executive director, deputy director, three Sudanese miners and a South Sudanese national.  Lol state Minister for information, Anei Anei Juach says Ahmed instructed the area executive director and his deputy to give the green light to the illegal miners. Juach says by the time of arrest, the miners had dug three hundred out of one thousand planned illegal gold wells in Kafia Kinyja. Hunger Forced Lafon County Communities To Flee The County

  The communities in Lafon County from Torit State have decided to abandon their County due to hunger, the Commissioner Of Lafon County Confirmed this report.   Hon. Owar Marko added that every day a large number of families had to flee the County due to drought and as a result there is no food to sustain them.   The drought came as a result of poor harvest in the County. The poor harvest is because of lack of rain in the County the commissioner said.  Roads connecting Lafon County to other counties and States have became impassable for humanitarians to deliver food aid to the County.    The commissioner is appealing to the government and humanitarian agencies to come to their rescue immediately.  More to follow shortly.... 

South Sudan President Orders Investigation Into Crude Oil Pre-Sale By Former Petroleum Minister

Just less than two weeks ago after sacking Petroleum Minister Hon. Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth, South Sudan President ordered investigation into his crude oil pre-sale deals.   South Sudan President also organized an investigation committee to complete the inquiry.   President Salva Kiir also said that “ascertain the number of pre-sale agreements and companies allocated crude oil on the basis of pre-sale.” The investigation is expected to take 14 days only.  The committee will investigate: 1. The process of crude oil pre-sale and Taxes 2. Verifying the crude oil pre-sale data It is still unclear to why the president ordered the investigation but it is believed to be because of corruption activities in the petroleum department.   More to come shortly....

Juba academy emerged as the best secondary in the just released secondary education results.  It got a 100% pass rate.   It means all the subjects has an excellent pass rate in Juba Academy the pride of South Sudan.   Juba Academy is also followed by St. Thomas Secondary which is also in the same state known as Jubek State.   Let's break down the performances from all the states: Aweil East State 96.6% Eastern Lakes State 96.9% Amadi State 13.3,% So the question is who is the best student in the recent secondary examination.  He is no other than Michael Dut Arok Mabior with 96%.
