President Salva Kiir Mayardit Renames University of Northern Bahr el Ghazal ‎

‎President Salva Kiir Mayardit has announced the renaming of the University of Northern Bahr el Ghazal to the University of Aweil and directed the national parliament to formalize its status as a public university. ‎ ‎The announcement was made during the president’s visit to Aweil, where he pledged government support for higher education and institutional development in the region. ‎ ‎President Kiir instructed lawmakers to undertake the necessary legal procedures to ensure the newly renamed University of Aweil is fully recognized as a public university under South Sudan’s higher education framework. ‎ ‎The move is expected to strengthen access to higher education in Northern Bahr el Ghazal and enhance the university’s role in training skilled professionals to support national development. ‎ ‎Further details on the parliamentary process and implementation timeline are yet to be announced.

South Sudan Government Given Ten (10) Acres Of Land By Kenyan Government


South Sudan today received a ten (10) acres of land in Naivasha Kenya. The land is to be used a dry port and Logistics when South Sudan Crude oil reaches Lamu Port.  

Kenya also plans to hold a trade expo in Juba South Sudan to strengthen their bilateral relationship with South Sudan.  

The land issued to South Sudan is similar to the given to Uganda on March this year. President Uhuru Kenyatta own words “To further ease the movement of goods consigned to South Sudan, the Kenya Government has set aside 10 acres of land at the Inland Container Depot in Naivasha Industrial Park, for use as a dry port by the Government of South Sudan.” 

The Kenyan President also assured South Sudan of its intentions to complete the LAPSSET projects including the Lamu project too.  
“The first berth (of the Lamu Port) will be ready this August while Berths 2 and 3 are expected to be completed within the year 2020,” Kenyan President added.  
President Uhuru Kenyatta further said that “In pursuit of our shared vision to deepen further our cooperation, it is important we fast-track the implementation of the LAPSSET Corridor Highway, that is, from Lamu-Garissa-Isiolo-Lokichar-Lodwar-Nadapal-Kapoeta-Torit-Juba.”
