Nasir Trial Adjourned as MP Gatwech Lam Puoch Begins Defense ‎

‎The Special Court handling the Nasir incident has adjourned proceedings until Monday, June 15, after the third accused, MP Gatwech Lam Puoch, began presenting his defense. ‎ ‎Gatwech, a member of the National Legislative Assembly representing Nasir County, rejected allegations linking him to activities related to the Nasir incident.  ‎ He told the court that his actions were part of his constitutional duties as an elected representative and were aimed at reducing tensions in Nasir and Ulang counties. ‎ ‎The lawmaker said a press conference cited by prosecutors was intended to encourage dialogue, address rumors, and help prevent conflict rather than incite violence.  ‎ He maintained that he was fulfilling his responsibility to represent and speak on behalf of his constituents. ‎ ‎Gatwech also argued that the Nasir crisis should be viewed within the wider context of challenges facing the implementation of the 2018 peace agreement, citing concerns raised by various political act...

South Sudan Government Said That It Is Ready To Protect All Civilians

The Government of South Sudan reiterated on its mission to use all necessary measures to protect all South Sudanese Civilians. 

The statement came after a deadly clash between armed groups of Jonglei and Greater Pibor Administrative Area leading to massive displacement of civilians. 

Deng Dau Deng, the Deputy Minister Of Foreign Affairs said that: “since early September and October, the government of South Sudan has been engaging in finding an amicable solution to the conflict in Upper Nile and also Jonglei state through the envisioned dispatch of high-level political leaders to those areas to dialogue on the root causes of the conflict and secure the peace and stability,” he said.

“You have seen members of the assembly and members of the government travelling together to Upper Nile to address and to talk on the causes of the conflict that erupted in areas of Panyikang, Tonga, Fashoda and other places. The government has been very committed in that part of our country,” Dau said.

He further noted that the SPLM-IO and Kit-Gwang faction led by Gen. Simon Gatwech and Johnson Olony Agwelek faction  are the main reason for the conflicts in Uppernile. 

He further stated that “while the conflict in Jonglei State and greater Pibor Administrative Area came because of issues of grazing land, child abduction and cattle raiding that normally intensifies during the dry season,” 

 “The recent movement of youths from three areas that has been converging to the area of greater Pibor, of course, the government has condemned this, and the government has stopped the youths, and whatever that happens is described as criminality that is being done at that level,” he added.

    The government of South Sudan is the one respondible to all messes. Murle criminal men has keeps raiding cattle and abducting children and women and killing men who is capable to defense. But i didn't see any necessary measures that had been took by the government on murle criminal men. Now when youth from Nuer and Dinka go for revenge and bring back their abducted children, the government came up with unwise measure saying that, the government will stop these attackers. How come? Shame on you.

SSPDF and Agwelek Forces Capture New Fangak in Jonglei State ‎

‎ SSPDF Soldier  ‎Government troops from the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF), backed by the Agwelek militia, have taken control of New Fangak (Phom) in Fangak County, Jonglei State, following a coordinated military offensive against forces loyal to the Sudan People’s Liberation Army-in-Opposition (SPLA-IO) and the White Army. ‎ ‎Major General Paromi Angui, the SSPDF operations commander and deputy commander of Agwelek forces, confirmed the capture, stating that the operation began on May 12 and resulted in the seizure of both New Fangak town and the Alel area to its south. ‎ ‎According to Gen. South Sudan Ministry Of Health Urges Bor Fish Traders to Suspend Trade with DR Congo Over Ebola Fears
