13 Killed in Jonglei Clashes Over Disputed Fishing Ground.

‎Jonglei State, South Sudan. At least 13 people have been killed and more than 20 others injured in renewed communal clashes between the Hol and Ayual communities in Jonglei State, officials confirmed on Thursday. ‎ ‎The deadly fighting broke out on Wednesday at Bioth-Agany Fishing Island, a disputed area between Duk and Twic East counties, after armed youth from the Hol community of Duk reportedly launched an attack on the island currently claimed by the Ayual community of Twic East. ‎ ‎Twic East County Commissioner Juach Arok Juach stated that seven people from his community were killed, seven others wounded, and four remain missing. United Kingdom Rallies Support For South Sudan Peace Process

Mr. Christopher Trott The Special Envoy to South Sudan

Mr. Christopher Trott the special envoy form the United Kingdom to South Sudan and Sudan is urging the regional countries to keep pressure on the warring parties in Sudan and South Sudan.
An excerpt of his comments taken from The Times Newspaper In Rwanda follows. “We cannot allow the killing that we have seen in South Sudan over the last three years to continue any longer and I think that Rwanda can in some ways teach a lesson to those that are involved in conflicts because you can speak from experience about the impact of this kind of fighting,” Trott told Rwanda’s The New Times newspaper.

He further urged the Rwandan President Paul Kagame who, will from 28 January, take over the AU chairmanship to keep a closer eye on the peace process in South Sudan.

“He [Kagame] is going to be the head of the continental organization that has oversight over everything that is happening on this continent and I hope that he can use that to encourage IGAD to work further towards peace and to encourage the parties themselves to commit to peace,” said the UK official.

Lastly he urged the warring factions in South Sudan to honor the cessation of hostilities agreement they signed before the mediators in Addis Ababa Ethiopia on 21 December.

Ugandan Troops Accused of War Crimes in South Sudan: Civil Society Demands ICC Action

 ‎ UPDF.  A South Sudanese campaign group, the Reclaim Campaign, has submitted a formal request to the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate alleged atrocities committed by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) during their incursion into Upper Nile State in March 2025. ‎ ‎The group alleges that the UPDF carried out indiscriminate bombings, used chemical weapons, and targeted civilians particularly from the Nuer ethnic group while operating inside South Sudanese territory without the consent of the transitional government.  ‎ ‎According to the campaign, these actions could constitute war crimes, crimes against humanity, and acts of aggression under the Rome Statute. ‎ ‎The Reclaim Campaign's petition also claims that the Ugandan government has shown no willingness to hold its military accountable, making a case for the ICC to intervene.  ‎ ‎The group cited statements by Ugandan officials that allegedly dehumanize South Sudanese citizens and promote et...
