General Education Minister and President Salva Kiir.  ‎President Salva Kiir Mayardiit has been briefed by the Ministry of General Education and Instruction on the latest Primary School Examination results an important step in assessing the progress of South Sudan’s education system. ‎ ‎The official release of the results is expected next week, but early insights shared during the briefing paint a mixed picture. On the one hand, there’s reason for optimism.  ‎ ‎The Ministry reported improved performance in literacy and numeracy in areas like Central Equatoria, Western Bahr el Ghazal, and parts of Upper Nile.  These gains reflect recent efforts to strengthen the education sector and expand access to quality learning opportunities. ‎ ‎However, the challenges remain significant. South Sudan President Issued A Public Apology To Civil Servants Over Six Months Salary Delay

South Sudan President publicly apologized to the civil servants over delay to pay the civil servants salary arrears for six months.  
Kiir made the speech during South Sudan independence day celebrations in Juba and assured the civil servants that their outstanding salary will be paid in full soon.  
President Kiir also said that he understands the living conditions in the country and blame it to the civil war tearing the nation apart.  
“I am fully aware that our people are hungry because of the difficult living conditions imposed upon them by insecurity and economic hardships. This is further exacerbated by the failure of my government to pay the salaries of our civil servants on time. However, that salary maybe little, It does make some difference in the livelihood of the families of our civil servants.” 
“I want to sincerely apologize to you my people on my own behalf and on behalf of the government for those failures.”
“My government undertook several resolutions directing the ministry of finance and planning to pay all the outstanding arrears of our workforce and scheduled prompt payment of salaries to the employees of the government Republic of South Sudan at both the national and states level of the government.” 
Finance Minister Salvatore also said that “The first two months had already been paid, we are now going to two months, which one month is going to be started tomorrow, then the second month.”
The Finance Minister reiterated that “They may confuse that may the employees may be told its only one month. But if the first one is finished then the employees will know which months are coming. So now we are in the third month for salaries payment, and the fourth one is coming. It’s already approved yesterday,” said the minister of finance and planning.

Top Opposition General Joins Government Forces in South Sudan

‎A senior opposition army officer has left his group and joined the government army in South Sudan. Brigadier General Adnan Alex Boboya, who was part of the SPLA-IO (the main opposition army), said he has decided to support peace and work with the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF), which is the national army. ‎ ‎Speaking in Yei River County, Gen. Boboya said, “I am doing this for the good of my people and my country. It is time for peace. Mass Defection of Opposition Forces (SSOA) Threatens South Sudan's Fragile Peace Deal ‎

‎ A group SSOA defectors.  ‎More than 2,300 security personnel formerly aligned with the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) have defected to join the ranks of the government under President Salva Kiir, in a development that could significantly destabilize the 2018 peace agreement. ‎ ‎According to Samir, one of the commanders leading the defection, the group includes 105 army officers, 650 police officers, 668 prison service officers, 400 wildlife officers, and 506 fire brigade officers. ‎ ‎“We renounce all duties assigned to us under SSOA and are now under the command of the president,” Samir declared.  ‎ ‎He called on other opposition forces across the country to follow suit, in what appears to be a strategic consolidation of power under Kiir. ‎ ‎David John Kumuri, the public relations director for the National Security Service, welcomed the defectors and assured them of their safety.  ‎ ‎He said that, “this move demonstrates a commitment to peace and national unity...
