Yirol people today and South Sudan at large are saddened by the news of a 20 year old girl who was beaten to death for refusing to marry a suitor that had been arranged by the parents.
Taban Abel, Minister of Information in Eastern Lakes, told Radio Tamazuj Friday parents forced the girl to marry a man who offered 40 cows to the family as dowry.
The State Information Minister Mr Taban Abel confirmed that the parents of the deceased girl forced her to marry a man who tabled an offer 50 cows as a dowry to the family.
After the girl rejected the suitor this forced his own brothers to beat him as a form of disciplining.
In his own words he said that “The father was one who ordered people to kill his daughter because she refused to get married. The first accused is called Anyich.”
He further said that “This is a barbaric act that needs immediate intervention from the government. This is the second incident of its kind because last year a girl was impregnated and then her father beat her to death.”

  1. My fellow south Sudanese, when will you stop forcing your young beloved, beautiful daughters to old men because of mere animals (cow).
You know how much she is to you compare to a cow but I know you still have that fixed mind set that cows are praised like god but I call stupidity.
So sad may her soul rest in paradise.😤😤😤😤
