For the first since the independence of South Sudan, National revenue officials announce the highest revenue collection in April 2023.

The highest number of revenue collection was achieved because of the willingness of citizens to pay their taxes.

National revenue authority officials said that the total non oil revenue collections for April 2023 totals to SSP 19.8 billion, highest ever monthly non oil revenue collection to date.

Dr. Patrick Mugoya, Commissioner General of the South Sudan National Revenue Authority said that, the majority of citizens are embracing their noble duty of paying taxes voluntarily.

This increase in tax compliance is a significant boost to the country's efforts to diversify its revenue streams away from oil.

The government has been taking steps to improve tax collection and enforcement in recent years, including the introduction of a modernized tax system and the expansion of the tax base to include previously exempt sectors such as agriculture and small businesses.

Dr. Mugoya has praised the efforts of the NRA in achieving these record collections, stating that the authority will continue to work towards improving tax compliance and transparency in the country.

The increased revenue collections are also likely to have a positive impact on the country's economic stability and development, providing much-needed funds for public services and infrastructure projects.
