Police Officer Shot Dead, Gun Stolen While Guarding KCSE Exam Papers in Turkana ‎

Turkana County Police Commander, Samuel Ndanyi. ‎A police officer was shot dead in cold blood on Monday morning while guarding Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination papers in Turkana County.  ‎ The tragic incident occurred at Kang’atotha area, Turkana Central, where officers had been deployed to provide security during the ongoing national examinations. ‎ ‎According to police reports, the slain officer was part of a team assigned to escort and guard examination materials at a local school. Witnesses said the attack happened shortly after dawn when unknown assailants ambushed the officer. Prominent members of South Sudan Opposition Alliance agreed to hand over the Governorship of Jonglei State to the Government in a new arrangements. 


South Sudan Opposition Alliance 'SSOA' has agreed to swap Jonglei State Governorship with SPLM and agreed to take the position of the Deputy Governor.


The reason for the swapping of the position was to address the never ending crisis in Jonglei State. 


While addressing the media, Hon. Gabriel Changson Chan a senior member of 'SSOA' and also the current Minister of Higher Education said, SSOA is contented by the new arrangement with the government since it will help restore peace in Jonglei State. 


According to the new arrangement, SSOA will take up a Ministerial position in the National Government and a Special Envoy position and the deputy Governor of Jonglei.


President Kiir is expected to effect the changes in the coming days.


The South Sudan Opposition Alliance is a coalition of political parties and armed groups in South Sudan that are opposing the regime of President Kiir. 


South Sudan Opposition Alliance was formed in February 2018 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, by nine groups.
