South Sudan’s Caretaker Minister of Presidential Affairs, Africano Mande Gedima, has held talks with Ethiopia’s Ambassador to South Sudan, Delil Kedir Bushra, on strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries. The meeting focused on diplomatic relations and cooperation, with the two officials also exchanging views on the current situation in South Sudan, Ethiopia and the wider region. Ambassador Delil Kedir said the discussions provided an opportunity to share perspectives on regional developments and matters of mutual interest. Prominent members of South Sudan Opposition Alliance agreed to hand over the Governorship of Jonglei State to the Government in a new arrangements. 


South Sudan Opposition Alliance 'SSOA' has agreed to swap Jonglei State Governorship with SPLM and agreed to take the position of the Deputy Governor.


The reason for the swapping of the position was to address the never ending crisis in Jonglei State. 


While addressing the media, Hon. Gabriel Changson Chan a senior member of 'SSOA' and also the current Minister of Higher Education said, SSOA is contented by the new arrangement with the government since it will help restore peace in Jonglei State. 


According to the new arrangement, SSOA will take up a Ministerial position in the National Government and a Special Envoy position and the deputy Governor of Jonglei.


President Kiir is expected to effect the changes in the coming days.


The South Sudan Opposition Alliance is a coalition of political parties and armed groups in South Sudan that are opposing the regime of President Kiir. 


South Sudan Opposition Alliance was formed in February 2018 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, by nine groups.

Russia to Open Embassy in Juba: A New Chapter in South Sudan–Russia Relations
