Police Officer Shot Dead, Gun Stolen While Guarding KCSE Exam Papers in Turkana ‎

Turkana County Police Commander, Samuel Ndanyi. ‎A police officer was shot dead in cold blood on Monday morning while guarding Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination papers in Turkana County.  ‎ The tragic incident occurred at Kang’atotha area, Turkana Central, where officers had been deployed to provide security during the ongoing national examinations. ‎ ‎According to police reports, the slain officer was part of a team assigned to escort and guard examination materials at a local school. Witnesses said the attack happened shortly after dawn when unknown assailants ambushed the officer. GOVERNMENT ASSURES RJMEC OF FULL IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PEACE AGREEMENT

President Kiir on Friday met with RJMEC chair, Amb. Maj Gen (rtd) Charles Tai Gituai to discuss the progress of implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement


Minister of Cabinet Affairs Dr. Elia Lomoro gave his assessment to President Kiir on the implementation of Roadmap and expressed the commitment of the government to implement the peace process. 


Dr. Elia said that the government is determine to complete the permanent constitution making process before conducting elections.


On his part, the chairperson of the Revitalized Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission(RJMEC), Charles Gituai said President Kiir assured him of full implementation of the peace agreement and that elections will be conducted at the end of Transitional period.


The Revitalised Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS) was signed in Addis Ababa on 12 September 2018 under the auspices of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).


The Reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission is constituted under Chapter VII of the R-ARCSS and is responsible for monitoring and overseeing the implementation of the Revitalised Peace Agreement and the mandate and tasks of the RTGoNU, including the adherence of the Parties to the agreed timelines and implementation schedule.


In case of non-implementation of the mandate and tasks of the RTGoNU, or other serious deficiencies, the RJMEC shall recommend appropriate corrective action to the RTGoNU.
