VP Bol Mel Vows to Settle Pension Arrears Worth SSP 43 Billion and USD 75 Million ‎




‎Vice President and Economic Cluster Chair Dr. Benjamin Bol has pledged to clear pension arrears totaling SSP 43 billion and USD 75 million, covering the period from 2011 to 2023. 

‎The commitment was made during a high-level strategic meeting aimed at addressing persistent challenges in the public service sector.

‎Attending the meeting were Public Service Minister Dak Duop Bicok, Pension Fund Board Chair Angelo Deng Rehan, and the Fund’s General Manager Edward Yier Yier. Dr. Bol directed the immediate settlement of the arrears to support retired civil servants.

‎Additionally, he called on the Ministry of Finance to accelerate efforts to open bank accounts for public employees, a move aimed at eliminating ghost names from the national payroll system.

‎He further said that. “We cannot build a credible and transparent public service system while ghost names drain our national resources. I have directed the Ministry of Finance to ensure all employees open bank accounts this is a critical step toward accountability and restoring trust in government institutions.”
