‎A senior opposition army officer has left his group and joined the government army in South Sudan. Brigadier General Adnan Alex Boboya, who was part of the SPLA-IO (the main opposition army), said he has decided to support peace and work with the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF), which is the national army. ‎ ‎Speaking in Yei River County, Gen. Boboya said, “I am doing this for the good of my people and my country. It is time for peace. We, as soldiers, should protect our communities, not fight them.” ‎ ‎Government army leaders welcomed him and encouraged other opposition fighters to stop fighting and talk about peace. ‎ ‎This comes just days after over 600 SPLA-IO soldiers also joined the government side. ‎ ‎But some people are worried that these changes could cause more problems for the peace agreement signed in 2018 between President Salva Kiir and opposition leader Riek Machar.  ‎ ‎There are also reports that Riek Machar is being kept at home and not allowed to move...

SPLM-IO Deputy Speaker Said What happened in 2016 will never happen again

Col. Lam Paul Gabriel was speaking to Catholic Radio Network and was assuring the South Sudanese that the incident that happened in 2016 will never happen again cause in 2016 they made a mistake of moving into Juba with heavy gunfire and this time around they will not move into Juba with any gun.
He further added that the SPLMA-IO are going to be under the protection of the SSPDF South Sudan People Defence Force. He is fully convinced that the president of South Sudan will protect them after referring to several of the President speech.
Finally, he is calling out to the other armed forces in the bushes to come out and embrace peace instead of acting stubborn. The time for peace is now and put our differences aside and come back to develop our country.
2016 violent erupted outside of where Kiir and Riek Machar were meeting in Juba. The fighting then spread in the whole part of the country. Thousands of South Sudanese lost their lives and over 30, 000 South Sudanese fled into neighbouring Uganda.
South Sudan Civil war was very catastrophic. The agricultural sector was down since the country had known no peace but war most farmers fled to the refugee camp for fear of being killed. The oil sector was shut down due to South Sudan friction with Sudan.
Rape had become a weapon used by both Armed forces. Women and young girls have faced harassment in the course of the war. According to a report released by the International Rescue Committee, it says of all the women staying the camps 50% of them have been raped either in the POC OR outside the POC.
The major economic project had to put on hold since one won't know where the next gunshot will be fired. The civil war has destroyed the country leading even to the strong South Sudan Pound to lose its value against the dollars and other currencies.

More to follow shortly........

  1. my message should be directly to the spla-io deputy spoke person. iam already confused of where the spla-io got such confidential information to go to juba under the protection of Salva kiir leadership. is it confirmed that the spla-io was responsible for the 2o16, J1 war, or not, because it seem from the statement of spla-io deputy spoke person that the war occurred because the spla-io entered into juba with their gun, they started the war. if it was not, why it is possible for spla-io peace team's safety put in risk without due diligent from the leadership? this is not good any more; the blood of patriots is not unquestionable from their parent, and we need to make sure that if the problem is going to occur again it will be the last chance for the movement to survive because the family of our patriots will turn their face against the movement, and they will thinks that we are just playing a game of misleading.
