President Kiir and VP Nyandeng  ‎President Salva Kiir Mayardiit today met with Vice President Rebecca Nyandeng at the State House in Juba.   ‎ ‎During the meeting, Vice President Nyandeng briefed President Kiir on her recent official visit to Uganda, where she held discussions with President Yoweri Museveni.  ‎ ‎According to a statement from the Office of the President, their discussions focused on enhancing bilateral relations between South Sudan and Uganda and promoting peace in the region.   ‎ ‎They also addressed key national issues, including the current political and economic developments in South Sudan.  ‎ ‎President Kiir and Vice President Nyandeng reaffirmed their commitment to peace, unity, and development in South Sudan.   ‎ ‎They emphasized the importance of cooperation among leaders and citizens to advance the country's progress and strengthen its relations with neighboring countries.   ‎ ‎This high-level engagement com...

Imatong State To be Changed Into Torit State

Imatong State has been now approved into Torit State after a series of consultations from the council of States in Juba.

Mr. Charles Udwar Ukech the Imatong Assembly Speaker says that the motion was to deliberate on for long before being passed by the state assembly, pending resolutions and execution. 

 Mr. Tobiolo Alberio Oromo the State Governor while reading the council of the States resolution breaks the news in a public rally at Torit Freedom Square.
 
The name takes effect immediately after the declaration, he announces. Governor Alberio says the change of the state’s name is a demand of the people of Torit. As the state citizens wait to adopt the name, some people in Torit have different reaction over the changes.

Joseph Bol Chan was the one chairing the meeting when the Council of states reached the resolution in it's ordinary sitting on Thursday March 22 in Juba.
 
A similar change of the name also occurred to the neighboring state of Kapoeta from Namurunyang.

“We Are Back”: SSPDF Recaptures Ulang Amid Fractures in the White Army ‎

‎ ‎After weeks of tension and uncertainty, the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) have reentered Ulang town, regaining control from the White Army  a civilian militia that had recently seized power and chased out government authorities. ‎ ‎Maj. Gen. Michael Majok, the army commander overseeing Division 2 in Malakal, confirmed the news Thursday. “We are back in Ulang, thanks to the unity of our forces, the state government, and the support of civilians on the ground,” he said. ‎ ‎Last month, the White Army mainly composed of armed Nuer youth  took over Ulang County, replacing the county commissioner and pushing back against government troop movements in nearby Nasir.  The move sparked fears of renewed regional conflict and cross-border instability with Ethiopia. ‎ ‎But this week’s retaking of Ulang came with surprisingly little resistance.
