Nineteen '19' year old woman committed suicide in Lakes State, Rumbek East County

  The local police of Lakes State confirmed that a 19 year old woman committed suicide in the County of Rumbek East in the village of Meen-Wal and the police withheld the deceased name for unknown reason.  This is not the first time for the young girls to commit suicide in the State, the first case was reported to the authorities  two days ago after a young girl committed suicide in Wulu County.  While speaking to the Media, Police Spokesperson Maj. Elijah Mabor Makwach said that, the police are conducting thorough investigation on why there is a rampant rise of suicide amongst girls in Lakes State.  “We have recorded several cases of suicide with the most recent being a 19-year-old girl who committed a suicide in Meen-wal village in Rumbek East County and the investigation is still ongoing to identify the cause of the suicide because the cases are rising. South Sudan newly appointed Press Secretary was today well received by His Excellency Salva Kiir. 

Lilly Adhiu Martin will be the first female Press Secretary Secretary after replacing Ateny Wek. 

In her statement she said that "While it is a challenging responsibility that requires incredible dedication and sacrifice, I cannot think of any higher honor and privilege than to serve His Excellency the President and the people of South Sudan in this capacity. I'm fully prepared for the task. As a firmer believer in teamwork, I will work closely with the existing team to steer the Presidential Press Unit to new heights.”

She encourages cordial working environment between the media and the office of the president. 

In another statement she said that “to our colleagues in the media fraternity, my team and I look forward to developing acloser and cordial working relationships as you are key stakeholders towards making South Sudan a better and more open society. My office will be open for you.” She further added.
