Police Officer Shot Dead, Gun Stolen While Guarding KCSE Exam Papers in Turkana ‎

Turkana County Police Commander, Samuel Ndanyi. ‎A police officer was shot dead in cold blood on Monday morning while guarding Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination papers in Turkana County.  ‎ The tragic incident occurred at Kang’atotha area, Turkana Central, where officers had been deployed to provide security during the ongoing national examinations. ‎ ‎According to police reports, the slain officer was part of a team assigned to escort and guard examination materials at a local school. Witnesses said the attack happened shortly after dawn when unknown assailants ambushed the officer.  Action Africa Help International (AAH-I-I), an international non-profit making agency that implements humanitarian relief, recovery and development projects in Africa, seeks to qualified candidate for the position of Project Food Monitors (General Food Distribution) for its program in South Sudan. Under the overall leadership of the Project Officer (General Food Distribution)

Job Summary:
The Food Monitor is responsible for the day to day community mobilization activities for general food distribution Summary of Duties & Responsibilities
· Arrange for project entry meetings in the project area.
 · Organize and conduct mobilization meetings for creating awareness about the project.
 · Mobilize community members to attend planning meetings, stakeholder workshop, monitoring exercises and evaluation meetings.
· Facilitate the formation of Project management committee and Boma project management committees.
· Together with the PMC and BPMC, organize the registration of project beneficiaries and maintain registration records.
· Together with the PMC, BPMC participate in the identification, registration, validation and selection of beneficiaries for the project.
· Organize selected beneficiaries in to manageable groups and sensitize them on their roles and the code of conduct at food distribution sites.
 · To organize, conclude, and document monthly Food Distribution to targeted households at pre-determined FDP sites.
· Responsible for sensitizing, mobilizing, training, and strengthening Community Based Committees (PMC and BPMC) to verify eligible households to receive rations during monthly distributions.
· Work closely with the Warehouse keepers to organize food delivery to FDP sites on scheduled dates and locations.
· Responsible for accurately documenting all recipient households receiving rations during each distribution.
· Assist the monitoring and reporting assistant to compile, summarize, and analyze distribution and post-distribution information.
 · Together with the community committees report any complains/ grievances arising from the implementation of the project.
· Provide all information and data for preparation of required reports
 · Perform any other task that may be assigned by the supervisor Person specifications · Any relevant certificate or secondary school certificate.
· At least two years previous experience in a similar job. Skills and Competence:
1. Demonstrated knowledge of mobilization
2. A good command of English and Arabic or the local dialect
 3. Ability to work under minimum supervision
 4. Dr. Riek Machar Hires Janjaweed As His Bodyguards

A Sudanese Arabic newspaper is reporting that Riek Machar has hired Janjaweed as his bodyguards for his return to South Sudan. The Janjaweed have been renamed “Rapid Support Forces” and helped to suppressed the Sudanese protestors who toppled Bashir. Dr Riek who is currently in Khartoum will be accompanied by Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo, the commander of Janjaweed who is currently part of Sudan’s ruling Sovereign Council. The newspaper Al-Intibaha quoting unnamed sources in the Government of South Sudan reported that Riek will return to South Sudan next month to meet with President Kiir. The paper did not specify the date of the meeting. Dr. Riek Machar served as inaugural Vice President from 2011 until his dismissal in 2013 and also between April and July 2016 as first vice president.  More to follow shortly....

Ugandan Troops Accused of War Crimes in South Sudan: Civil Society Demands ICC Action

 ‎ UPDF.  A South Sudanese campaign group, the Reclaim Campaign, has submitted a formal request to the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate alleged atrocities committed by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) during their incursion into Upper Nile State in March 2025. ‎ ‎The group alleges that the UPDF carried out indiscriminate bombings, used chemical weapons, and targeted civilians particularly from the Nuer ethnic group while operating inside South Sudanese territory without the consent of the transitional government.  ‎ ‎According to the campaign, these actions could constitute war crimes, crimes against humanity, and acts of aggression under the Rome Statute. ‎ ‎The Reclaim Campaign's petition also claims that the Ugandan government has shown no willingness to hold its military accountable, making a case for the ICC to intervene.  ‎ ‎The group cited statements by Ugandan officials that allegedly dehumanize South Sudanese citizens and promote et...
