13 Killed in Jonglei Clashes Over Disputed Fishing Ground.

‎Jonglei State, South Sudan. At least 13 people have been killed and more than 20 others injured in renewed communal clashes between the Hol and Ayual communities in Jonglei State, officials confirmed on Thursday. ‎ ‎The deadly fighting broke out on Wednesday at Bioth-Agany Fishing Island, a disputed area between Duk and Twic East counties, after armed youth from the Hol community of Duk reportedly launched an attack on the island currently claimed by the Ayual community of Twic East. ‎ ‎Twic East County Commissioner Juach Arok Juach stated that seven people from his community were killed, seven others wounded, and four remain missing. Dr. Riek Machar SPLA-IO Rebels Attacked Pagak




The Government of South Sudan again have accused the SPLA-IO allied to Dr. Riek Machar Of Attacking their base in Pagak and it is a clear violation of the cessation of hostilities agreement that was signed by both parties.

Col. Dickson Gatluak the Spokeman Loyal to the First Vice President Taban Deng Gai Said that “Machar’s SPLA-IO attacked our position in Pagak through Jekow river and Pagak bridge,” and further added that “Our forces had to strike back heavily in order to end the assaults and repulsed them [rebels] back to where they came from and we rejuvenated back to our barracks at 6:00AM this morning.”

Mr. Gatluak further warned that such attacks can easily derail hope for peace in the young nation and that the signed agreement on cessation of hostilities must be respected by both parties who signed the agreement.

JMEC AND (CTSAMM) The two bodies said fighting had intensified in Unity, Jonglei and Central Equatoria pointing to the devastating impact on thousands of civilians and humanitarian agencies.
