Police Officer Shot Dead, Gun Stolen While Guarding KCSE Exam Papers in Turkana ‎

Turkana County Police Commander, Samuel Ndanyi. ‎A police officer was shot dead in cold blood on Monday morning while guarding Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination papers in Turkana County.  ‎ The tragic incident occurred at Kang’atotha area, Turkana Central, where officers had been deployed to provide security during the ongoing national examinations. ‎ ‎According to police reports, the slain officer was part of a team assigned to escort and guard examination materials at a local school. Witnesses said the attack happened shortly after dawn when unknown assailants ambushed the officer. Breaking: Kiir Receives Report Proposing Lower Tariffs, Wider Power Access



‎President Salva Kiir Mayardit has received a comprehensive report from the Power Purchase Review Agreement Committee, chaired by Engineer Madhieu Acuil Mawien, the Undersecretary in the Ministry of Energy and Dams.

‎The committee was assigned to review the power purchase agreement between the Government of South Sudan and Ezra Construction and Development Group. 

According to Engineer Madhieu, the President instructed the team to ensure the agreement is aligned with the country’s electricity policy and national interests.

‎Key areas under review include:

‎Equity structure and shareholding entitlements between the government and Ezra Construction.

‎Ownership stakes in Juba Electricity Distribution Company (JEDCO).

‎Tariff reductions to make electricity more affordable for citizens.

‎Restructuring power distribution through JEDCO to improve efficiency.

‎Engineer Madhieu stressed that the committee’s mandate involves consulting all parties to ensure a sustainable and affordable supply of electricity, while safeguarding national interests and expanding access across the Ten States and Three Administrative Areas.

‎The Ministry of Energy and Dams, which oversees power generation, transmission, and distribution nationwide, is expected to play a central role in implementing the recommendations.
