Russia to Open Embassy in Juba: A New Chapter in South Sudan–Russia Relations

‎ ‎In a significant diplomatic move, the Russian Federation is preparing to open its embassy in South Sudan between September and October 2025, marking a major milestone in the strengthening of bilateral ties between the two nations. ‎ ‎The news was confirmed by South Sudan’s Ambassador to Russia, Chol Tong Mayay, during a farewell event for a South Sudanese ICT delegation that recently attended the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2025). ‎ ‎A Long-Awaited Diplomatic Presence ‎The planned opening of a Russian embassy in Juba is seen as a long-overdue development in South Sudan-Russia relations.  ‎ ‎Since South Sudan gained independence in 2011, Russia has maintained diplomatic accreditation to Juba from its embassy in Khartoum.  ‎ ‎The establishment of a permanent diplomatic mission in the South Sudanese capital is expected to significantly boost cooperation, streamline consular services, and facilitate more direct political, economic, and cultural exchanges....

Apuk Community Association In Juba Appoints Professor John Akech as it's New Chairperson

Breaking News Apuk Community Association in Juba appoints Prof. John Akec as its new Chairperson The general assembly of Apuk Community in Juba has today confirmed Prof. John Apuruot Akec the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Juba as its new Chairperson. The confirmation was being done at Savannah Hotel in Juba. This comes after being nominated as interim chairperson last year by the then Chairperson, Justice Ambrose Riiny Thiik.  The General Assembly was asked whether to confirm Prof. John Apuruot or should go for elections. However, the General Assembly confirmed John Apuruot as the Chairman of Apuk Community in Juba and rejected the election.  The confirmation was witnessed by Hon. Salva Mathok Gengdit, MP, Hon. Kuot Deng Kuot, MP, Hon. Akoon Diing Athian, MP,  Hon. atong Bona Baak, MP, chairpersons of 9 sections of Apuk & the general assembly of Apuk Community in Juba. Credit: Mayen Abun Press 

Uganda Parliament Speaker is Dead

Speaker Jacob Oulonyah died this morning on Sunday in Seattle USA where he was undergoing treatment.   Speaker Oulanyah was elected to his current position after defeating the previous speaker Rebecca Alitawala.  He started work as the Speaker of the 11th Parliament of Uganda from 2021-2022. Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni announced the news on Sunday he said that.“I got information of this sad news at 10.30am, East African time from People that have been with him and the doctor that was caring for him in the intensive care unit,” Museveni said. Oulanyah was also the member of Parliament representing the Ugandan Northern Region comprising of the Acholi.
